Yahoo Web Design Tools

Joseph asks…
why can’t i design my website without buying yahoo’s web hosting after buying the domain from yahoo?
i bought a domain from yahoo n now i’m not able to design my website without buying the web hosting tool. the toll is very costly and i don’t need to create a Professional site as i want to make it for my personal usage. wht do i do to design the site on my own?

Costly?
Buying a domain is only buying part on online real estate. You need a server and its extra. Yahoo has Sitebuilder its free for windows or pcs running anything but Mac OS.

Steven asks…
How much in fact do you pay per month for Yahoo Web Hosting?
They say they charge $8.96/Month for the first 3 months and $11.95 therafter. Is it true? Do you pay another?
What do you think of the overall service? Wed design tools?

Honestly I love my Yahoo Small Business account. My total with tax is $13.94 but that’s because I was in under the monthly plan. The new plan is billed every 3 months. The service is great. I use the site builder software and it’s very easy to create and post changes. I would encourage you to consider it. I tried 1&1 service and it was awful. I have heard about Go Daddy but no experience to share. If you have a legitimate business, you can write off the hosting fees.

John asks…
Would it be wrong if you used Yahoo’s web building software, instead of Dreamweaver if you knew a bit?
I know my stuff in creating web pages in Dreamweaver and Flash, but, would it be wrong to make someone a web page from Yahoo‘s, as they say, easy-to-use tools to make web pages and sale stuff too?
I’m in the design industry, but im more fond in the printing area than the web.
Thanks for answers.

Unless you specifically contract with someone to use specific tools, there’s nothing wrong with using whatever tool is available. I prefer to hard code everything just because that gives me exact control over what I’m creating.
I’ve never used Yahoo’s tools so I don’t know what their limitations are. But worst case scenario, you could take the pages created with their tools and tweak them using some other program.

David asks…
The safest way to hire a designer for a photo heavy website with Flash?
As stated above I am looking for a designer who won’t rip me off, who actually knows what he/she is talking about and is willing to work with a professional artist who actually knows nothing about such things as web design and promotion. And really doesn’t have time to learn. Without I might add making me feel like an idiot. I believe I could, once such a thing is done, keep it up and freshen content but to originally design it? I tried a few designs with Frontpage and the freebie design tools at Yahoo and it looks like I tried a few designs with Frontpage and Yahoo. I need flash, copyright protections, and ultimately a store. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Find something you like, contact that designer. Or go to your local big box bookstore, buy one of the Flash Web design mags, find the work of someone you like, hire him.
