How to Install Dropbox on Kubuntu – KDE Desktop

Recently I’ve changed from Ubuntu running Gnome 3 front end to Ubuntu running the KDE front end or Kubuntu. the main reason for this change are problems with the Ati graphics drivers .

One of the things that I love is Dropbox . Dropbox is a cloud based backup service that is accessible on almost all connected devices. It works great on Ubuntu with a Gnome front end as it is tightly tied into the Nautilus file manager. When you install the deb package on KDE it says it installs fine but nothing happens. I have found a very simple way to get this working.

  • Open your file manager (dolphin)
  • Click on Root
  • Navigate to usrshareapplications
  • Find the file dropbox.desktop
  • Click , this will let you download the dropbox daemon and set up the program

Job done simple!
